Water as a
Vertical Plane

A water wall draws the eye upwards. Water is guided across an upright structure and flows down its surface. Depending on the model, it forms a continuous film across a single plane or moves over a sequence of staggered elements.

The character of the surface determines how the flow is perceived: matt-brushed metal distributes light evenly, while mineral texture breaks the water and reveals grain and relief. This visual movement is accompanied by a subtle acoustic presence - a water wall is both seen and heard.

Many Revisage water walls operate in a closed circuit: a pump returns water from a lower reservoir to the outlet above.

Water follows the surface - revealing it more vividly than when dry.

Outdoor Architecture

Freestanding Corten steel and stainless steel water walls introduce a precise vertical element to the landscape. Their geometry remains clearly legible beneath the flowing surface, creating a focal point that structures a garden or terrace.

Positioned along a sightline, they give order to an outdoor space. Their impact comes from the contrast between still material and moving water. Several sizes are available, depending on the model.

Natural Stone Indoors

Granite, marble, onyx and slate each respond differently to water. The wet surface deepens colour and grain, accentuates veining and gives the stone a presence it never has when dry.

Because every block has its own markings, each natural stone water wall is unique. These pieces feel less like decorative indoor fountains and more like sculptural elements within the room.

Glass & Stainless Steel

The lightest of the three expressions. Water flows evenly over a panel of toughened safety glass, framed in matt-brushed stainless steel. The surface remains translucent - the space beyond is filtered rather than concealed.

Transparency, reflection and a quiet flow give the piece presence in a contemporary interior without visually closing off the space.

Shapes the Water.

The same volume of water flowing across four different materials creates four distinct objects. The surface determines reflection, flow and whether the composition feels calm or animated.

Stainless Steel

A consistently even surface. Water settles into a continuous film that emphasises edges, joints and proportion. Matt-brushed stainless steel diffuses light softly rather than reflecting it sharply - geometry remains the defining statement.

Corten Steel

Warm · matt · evolving

Corten steel's rust patina is not a coating but a surface with depth of its own. When wet, it becomes darker and richer, heightening contrast between moving water and still material. It is an outdoor material that works naturally with planting and daylight.

Natural Stone

Mineral · tactile · individual

Granite, marble, onyx, slate and other stones vary in grain, hardness and surface relief. Water deepens their pattern and follows their structure rather than obscuring it. Stone availability varies by model.

Glass

Transparent · light

Glass carries the water without interrupting the view. The water film becomes a visible layer: what lies beyond remains recognisable, but appears in motion. A stainless steel frame gives the surface a precise edge that glass alone would not provide.

Freestanding water walls in Corten steel or stainless steel introduce a vertical accent into a predominantly horizontal landscape. Positioned at the end of a sightline, in front of a hedge or as a boundary to a lawn, they become a natural focal point.

Water brings subtle change to structured garden spaces without disturbing their order.

Terrace & Courtyard

On terraces and in courtyards, a water wall creates presence through height. It works with the vertical elements of the adjoining architecture - wall, façade or privacy screen - rather than against them.

Proportion and placement are essential: a tall form needs sufficient viewing distance to be read as a complete plane.

Interior

For interiors, Revisage offers natural stone water walls and glass models framed in stainless steel. Designed for residential and commercial spaces, they bring movement, a restrained water sound and a reflective surface into the room.

Selected models are also relevant to indoor humidity, as water evaporates across their large surface area. Suitability for indoor use depends on the model - outdoor water walls are not designed for interiors.

Choosing a Water Wall

Water walls vary in their technology and construction. The following points provide guidance - exact specifications depend on the model.

Water Circuit

Many Revisage water walls use a recirculating system: a pump returns water from a lower reservoir or tank to the outlet above, allowing it to flow down the surface again. Reservoir size and construction vary by model.

Flow Pattern

The appearance of the water is shaped by flow rate, the number and adjustment of outlets, the geometry of the structure and the texture of the surface. On selected models - including the Gardenfountain Waterwall Cortensteel - each outlet can be adjusted individually.

Water Sound

The acoustic character depends on how the water is guided: whether it glides over a closed plane or falls freely, crosses a smooth or textured surface, and how it meets the basin below. Indoor models are designed for a restrained water sound.

Power Supply

Because the water is recirculated, every water wall requires an electrical connection for the pump. Models with lighting - standard on some pieces and optional on others - require power for this as well.

Water Level

In a closed circuit, some water evaporates across the wetted surface. Indoor pieces therefore require regular water-level checks and occasional topping up - the same effect that links water walls with indoor humidity.

Placement

A stable, level, load-bearing surface, a nearby power connection and the immediate surroundings of the installation site must all be considered. Outdoors, the sightline and orientation are key; indoors, the sensitivity of adjacent materials and finishes must also be taken into account.
